Where it all began .....
a very long time ago.

Jack Carter's life is about to change dramatically. He is a broken man following his part in the death of his best friend, Mike Travis (Djinn), when he suddenly finds himself the Eldritch of the Strazca, the organisation whose watchwords are, We Watch, We Guard, We Keep. Once a field operative in the Order, keeping the supernatural world under control by despatching violent and rogue elements of that dimension, he is now the head of the Order.

But all does not go according to plan as a new enemy emerges in the form of E Squadron, a military unit answerable only to MI6, recruited from the SAS and SBS,  their plan is to create a secret unit of lycanthrope soldiers. A military unit that cannot be killed in the normal way of combat. E Squadron provides the government and the intelligence service with complete deniability; outside of MI6, to the government and the general public, their missions don't exist.

The action takes us to the tunnels beneath Paris and the murky underbelly of the secret service back home. During which time he discovers an enemy close to home.
Someone wants him dead.

In true Jack Carter style, he has to deal with the shadowy E Squadron, lycanthrope soldiers, and a man whose agenda is to take control of the Strazca.

Jack discovers the true origin of the Strazca, it's creator, and the massive weight of his inherited position.
